Where flooding is possible how can people compost humanure?

That's a good question. "Acts of God" and natural catastrophes are not situations that can easily be circumvented by planning or technique. I suppose you would try to keep your compost above the flood line.

speaking of natural catastrophes, in the aftermath of a tsunami, do you think the risk of water and food supplies being contaminated would decrease if people composted humanure. I've heard that one of the reasons water became contaminated in the recent tsunami was because sewage pipes leaked into underground water, but in the case of composting, the humanure would be on the surface, yet it would be, at least partially, already broken down. Which do you think is safer?

The compost would be safer - the pathogens are killed within 24 hours at 120 degrees F, unlike sewage, which can remain constantly pathogenic.
