Is it possible to overwater compost in dry climates? I empty my dishwashing water onto the pile to make use of the bits of food, but I worry the extra four or so gallons of water a day may be too much.

How do you tell if there's too much moisture in the pile without turning it?

Are you monitoring the temperature of the pile with a compost thermometer?

Yes, it's staying around 90 degrees in the center of the pile right now. Our ambient temperatures are ranging between 25 and 50 degrees, and the pile is around 3 by 3 by 2'.

If there is too much moisture in the pile, you will see moisture seeping out the bottom of the pile.
