This issue is addressed in the Humanure Handbook, all of which is available free on the web (http://jenkinspublishing.com/humanure_contents.html).

If a composter has doubts about his or her compost, it can be used for applications where it will not come into contact with food crops.

Is there any danger that the edges of the compost pile will not get thermophilic activity, and thereby not kill off parasites and other bad things when composting humanure?

And to Joe-though I have not tried humanure composting, the Humanure Handbook is an excellent and thought provoking book!
