First a thank you to J.C. Jenkins for introducing his well thought out Humanure system. The book mentions peat moss as a possible cover in the toilet.

a) Will sphagnum peat moss work as a covering material in the toilet to prevent odor ? I think so.

Then you may add a thin layer of tore up newspaper as an added odor protection and perhaps a sealent from any fungus in the moss. The newspaper may work better if wetted with a water spray, and then covered with another thin layer of dry newspaper.

b) Now here is my main question - I am not sure if the manure and sphagnum will compost hot enough.
