Hello,
I am seeking information for a constituent of ours (we teach homesteading skills.) They have a composting toilet and do not generally use it on their veggies, but are interested in growing some medicinal herbs that would be smoked.

The concern is that the humanure may (?) contain chemo and similar drugs since about 30% of the deposits have been made by someone undergoing cancer treatments. The medicinal herbs would be consumed by him only but there is a concern that the drugs could come through.

It is NOT a well-composted pile, they draw off the bottom of a pile that heats up at will, not by specific actions of theirs, so it's unlikely it's reached temps to destroy pathogens.

Any research on this we can refer them to, or thoughts, anecdotes, etc.?
Thanks, Chelle
