The World Health Organization has just released new Guidelines (last updated in 1989) for the recycling of human excreta and greywater in agriculture. The full 190-page report, or select chapters, are available through: http://www.who.int/water_sanitation_health/wastewater/gsuweg4/en/index.html

I found the report very interesting, with encouraging signs that recycling of human excreta will be fully integrated with the UN Millenium Goals. Composting excreta (including urine) is described, and thermophillic composting is recommended for the highest level of risk reduction for human health concerns. Check it out.
