Dee,

Before you go get too awful excited about not having to build a septic system, you might want to start searching the archives.

Movie stars? Saving the environment? Ha!

The hypocritical mass of those who speak of environmental issues do so for public relations. Maybe it makes them feel good too.

There are, of course, a few shining exemptions, but they don't own 5 mansions.

I digress.

Dear Joseph,
I just want to thank you for giving Free instructions on how to build the saw dust toilet. I want to be greener, but everything is expensive. The knowledge costs money, the products are ridiculously over-priced. You would think with so many Hollywood stars wanting to save the environment, solar power would be either subsidized by grants from them or cheaper because every one of their 5 mansions would be solar powered and bring down the price.

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I appreciate that you entitled to be paid and I love that you sell a product for those of us who donít have the skills to make one; but thank you for sharing. I just canít afford everything Iíd like to do. I getting a small piece of land and you just save me the cost of a septic tank and a guilty conscious.

Way to go Joe, and crew! Glad to see this effort to market bucket toilets. I made several in Dec. to give to friends as Christmas gifts. The Lovable Loo would make a great gift item for those who don't have the do-it-yourself tools.
I also use green buckets, when I can find them.

The WA State Dept. of Health just announced new rules requiring as of today that all municipal water utilities must implement water conservation practices. Comprehensive plans developed in public forum are required. I'll be there promoting dry toilets as an important tool for water conservation. It will be interesting to see if the market for composting toilets increases. The Loveable Loo may be a key product arriving at just the right time, starting a big Movement. The new water rules can be viewed through:

The LOVEABLE LOO humanure toilet is now available, by popular demand. You can read about it at https://www.jenkinspublishing.com/loveable_loo.html or purchase it at https://www.jenkinsslate.com/store_humanure.html.

We can ship these by UPS anywhere. They're simple, but we're trying to keep the cost down (currently $150.00, made of local Pennsylvania Amish-sawn hemlock and a 3/4" plywood top, with four receptacles and lids, an instruction manual, a "This is a Humanure Toilet" laminated sign, and a copy of the Humanure Handbook, 3rd edition). Although we oiled the hemlock and urethaned the plywood so the toilet could be used right out of the box, it can still be stained or painted to suit the owner.
