I removed my toilet and sealed the waste line with an expanding plug that is water and airtight. These are commonly available at places like Home Depot or hardware stores everywhere. The toilet can become a planter or whatever suits your fancy. The composting toilet fits nicely over the plug after placing several spacers on the floor to accomodate the space the the plug sticks up above the floor.

There is another thread somewhere that people were talking about how to seal off the toilet drain. Not sure where that is at the moment.
As for ourselves, the bucket toilet is situated in the closit and the toilet holds a dehumidifyer above the tank (draining into the tank) and the seat holds the laundry basket. This is in an apartment so taking the toilet out might cause awkward questions.

Good luck

We're getting ready to make the comp toilet when we ask, what are we going to do with the water toilet? We'd like to get rid of it, but are concerned about a cap on the line leaking into the basement before we have time to route all greywater to a made pond. We'd like to put the comp toilet in the bathroom, as we are short on space (small house) and the bathroom is tiny.
